  • 954045_SOM ED 2- Potential Construction Impact- Site Utilization-3 Construction Alert for Chemical Science Faculty, Staff, & Students

SOM ED 2 Neighborhood Community and Chemical Science Faculty, Staff and Students

To provide more information to the construction notification sent last week, the construction on the SOM ED 2 building has been steadfastly moving ahead and as we move forward areas of the concrete around the Chemical Science Building were found to be non-compliant for ADA access. As such the contractor is required to do some additional site work in the adjacent areas to the chemical science building. This will impact some of the pedestrian access paths that you have become accustomed to, and have some sound impact during the demolition of the existing concrete. We want to send a notification out to you informing you of changes in access around Chemical Sciences and SOM ED 1, we will work with the contractor to maintain access to the adjacent buildings, and chemical sciences.  Alternative paths as identified below have been designated so that there is access to the buildings.

Chemical Sciences Building- Alternate Pedestrian Paths

School of Medicine Education Building 01- Alternate Pedestrian Paths

Please see attached revised fencing layout. We would like to begin these activities at the end of this week. This revised fencing layout will remain in effect till July 19th.  Please see below exhibit of fencing with access/ egress pathways identified, this revised fencing will impact Chemical Sciences. We understand that construction activities can be disruptive and pose inconveniences. In an effort to minimize disruptions and being mindful of the access you have become accustomed to since construction has begun, we want to send out an advance notification and plan for any potential challenges that you may foresee.
