North District Phase 2
The North District Phase 2 project is a joint initiative by UC Riverside and Riverside Community College aimed at addressing the increasing demand for on-campus housing for undergraduate and graduate students.
The project proposes to construct over 1,500 new apartment-style units, providing comfortable and modern living spaces for students. The project is being proposed in response to the growing need for affordable, safe, and convenient housing options for students. With the increasing number of students enrolled in UC Riverside and Riverside Community College, the demand for on-campus housing has exceeded the available options. As a result, many students are forced to seek off-campus housing, which may not always be affordable, safe, or convenient.
The proposed project seeks to address this issue by providing over 1,500 new beds in apartment-style units, which will be designed to meet the needs of undergraduate and graduate students. The units will be equipped with modern amenities and facilities, such as Wi-Fi, air conditioning, study areas, and communal spaces for socializing and relaxation.
The project is being proposed in partnership with Riverside Community College and is seeking funding through the State Higher Education Student Housing Grant Program. If the funding application is successful, the project will provide 652 beds for low-income UCR and RCCD students, ensuring that students from diverse backgrounds have access to safe and affordable housing options.
Overall, the North District Phase 2 project is an important initiative that will help to address the growing demand for on-campus housing for UC Riverside and Riverside Community College students. By providing modern and affordable housing options, the project will help integrate Riverside Community College students into UC Riverside campus and student community as well as help to create a more vibrant and inclusive campus community, while also ensuring that students have the resources they need to succeed academically.
